Small But Mighty Series Returns with a Sweet Spotlight on Nibl Dessert and Cafe

The Commission is back with another episode of Small But Mighty - our YouTube series spotlighting the passionate small business owners who are shaping and strengthening communities across South Carolina. Meet Deanne Manuela, owner and founder of Nibl Dessert and Café, where Filipino roots and Asian flavors are reimagined through the lens of French pastry techniques. Inspired by the desserts she grew up loving, Deanne brings ube, pandan, black sesame, red bean, and more into handcrafted creations that are both nostalgic and new.

“All the recipes at Nibl are my own and took years to develop and perfect. It’s scary opening a new business in unfamiliar territory, but Columbia has welcomed us with open arms,” Manuela said.

Find Nibl inside MOA Korean BBQ & Bar at 1333 Main St., Columbia, SC. From Filipino favorites to other Asian-inspired treats, every bite tells a story. Watch the episode on Monday, August 11, 2025 on our YouTube channel
